And here a test of bringing it all together:
He will
Thought to give this a try myself.
Might update the mesh shape tomorrow (if I have time)
I think I’m understanding some of the things I’m doing wrong atm, and too lazy to make a better texture XD
haha super cool! glad i could inspire you <3
I’ve worked a bit on the build up. First the core is build up which then drags smoke around it for a little dance.
That looks ridiculously good!
Amazing to see it all coming together!
Rough sketch for ending of the effect (only tested with the upper part of the vfx to save some time): everything gets faster and faster until a big energy release happens:
- all other elements get faster over time now
- added final smoke rings, inspired by https://i.pinimg.com/originals/52/6d/d5/526dd59c78dde95371d58dd0984d97bf.gif
- added small novas just before explosion happens
- added big nova which slices through geo
Can’t wait for the breakdown, it’s looking awesome!
Ooh, looking nice!
I would suggest adding a black frame right before the brightest moment, this causes the brightness to pop even more. It’s something I learned from an animator a long time ago.
It only needs to be about one or two frames.
They tend to do so in anime as well.
Example:
But also try frame 11, 12, and 13 trough this or another gif-frame-viewer:
thanks for the hint! i will try that <3 i love those impact frames <3
Note to myself: Lerping a 3d mesh between origina vertex positions and its UV coords (used as coordinates in 3D space):
this is so BEAUTIFUL!! i would love to see a breakdown!
@ritawhite thank you! <3
Here is another small update. It’s a first test for a material which looks more like on the concept:
Also I played around with the core build up:
Love this FX! One thing you can add to the base mesh/core buildup is to give a little vertex offset animation (like undulating noise around the base) that fade out on the vertical gradient. That would break up the somewhat solid shape of the base.
Super duper cool :OOOO
why do I miss this! Look dope af.
