Making of a bright light for a brief moment

I’m trying to make a bright light like the image and gif from above, but I don’t really know how to approach this. I tried using a very high emissiveness and a very bright light renderer but both don’t give me the result I want. Anyone that knows of any tutorial that covers this topic or someone that could steer me in the right direction?

That’s actually a texture (a flare) combined with the light renderer.
