Premise:
Im doing my scary sketch based on The Ring. I have some ideas brewing but the basic idea is to create the ghostly/glitchy tv ghost of Samara Morgan. Im going to use some chromatic abberation, some post processing, and do a little set dressing/lighting to sell it.

@DeepSpaceBanana did some work on his blog creating a glitchy hologram where he disturbs the verticies. I will be testing something like that out.
@Cyanilux on twitter did a cool glitchy effect where she distorts the UV in an interesting way. I will try to replicate that.
And Harry Alisavakis made a post on his blog about chromatic abberation that I will give a read.
@klemen_lozar on twitter has a great post explaining his take on a glitchy effect that I will pull from as well.
Thats really the bulk of where my ideas came from so far.

Heres a shot of my shader so far. Im only using two textures
already scare!! good job
Thanks @simonschreibt! There’s a couple more things I want to try but I’m glad you think I’m headed in the right direction.
You’ve definitely got the ominous-looking surroundings in full effect, I’m ready to watch that movie!
You really have the vibe! I can’t wait to see the result!

Im working on some tv static/channel change post processing effects to help sell the tv ghost feeling. I decided to throw some classic Nickelodeon images in for testing. It gave me a break from the scary stuff lol.
That effect works well, I can here the noisy static in my head watching that
This is my post process shader so far. The three textures in the middle are just the Nickelodeon images im using to test.
The final effect looks awesome! Very well done!!
2 spooky. Nice work!
Really like the “wobbly” distortion/chromatic aberration when she stands nearer. The motion really has a fluid feel.
Great work on this
So excited to be mentioned in the list of finalists. Thanks to everyone who voted for me! I’ll post breakdowns soon
