TheNiceZombie: Sketch #66

Hallååå ~
Final Result:

This is my first post on Real-Time VFX and my first time setting up an unreal project myself.
After sketching for a bit I figured I would set the scope low and simply do a “double jump” using a simple cube with robust rig.

Great idea!
Starting simple is usually a good way as then you can built upon it if you have more time
Good luck <3

Here is the first iteration! :hugs:
DoubleJump_01 comp
Most of my time when to making the character move the way I wanted them to.
But I felt that it was needed for the Double Jump itself to look good.

With the time left I’m thinking about either polishing this little effect or start making another effect for the cube. Perhaps a wind based ground pound :facepunch:

Whaaaat, what a bouncy cube it is
What did you do to make it?

Thank you
The bounciness is animated in blender, I made an overly detailed rig so that I could control every corner.

Other then that it is a simple UE character blueprint.
I have never set one up before so it took a hot minute to figure out how everything works and be able to tweak the jump to my liking.

Great job on making it smooth then  Literally looked to me like a simulation of some sort

Here is the next step. A spiraling groundpound with a cute little star detail reminicent of Kirby.
Taking small steps have really helped be get into the process of making VFX in Unreal :grinning:

Phew, after a good amount of iteration and polish I ended up with a sleek cute look that fits the characters bouncy attitude.

I’d love hear what you think?
As for me one thing I can see is that there is a lack of anticipation as the cube spins in place to the decend.

Now to spend the last days of the sketch to look at everyone elses works : >
