Long time since i’ve posted here but I’m back with a tool that has been a dream of mine for over 10 years. IlluGen: JangaFX - IlluGen: Procedural Asset Generation for Real-time VFX Artists
IlluGen is a procedural VFX asset generator that can create both 2D and 3D assets for your visual effects! Though it looks like a shader editor and will eventually export shaders direct to engine, the core use case right now is generating all of the core textures and meshes you need in your visual effects. Whether you need to do pivot baking, animated meshes, tiling caustics, or random smoke puffs, you can do all of that here.
I got tired of using 10 different tools to generate the assets I needed and especially disliked workflows where I could only preview my textures and meshes together, in motion, in the game engine itself. IlluGen solved most of my personal issues with FX assets and I hope it can solve yours!
Right now the primary use case are procedural 2D and 3D assets, but up next we’re working on a full hand painting workflow that supports both static and animated painting. We’re also working towards getting VAT support in and support for more advanced mesh operations such as creating shells, destruction, and a lot more!
IlluGen currently includes over 90 nodes and can best be seen as a mix between photoshop, substance designer, and houdini. And if we don’t quite live up to that just yet, we will in due time!
