Help with getting animation in unreal

Hello, New user here

I was trying my hand at the sword trail sketch for this month and I’m having trouble getting my animation into unreal. The mesh is there, but when I import the animation into unreal get these errors

The animation does not play an I’m not sure what the problem is. I have never imported animation into unreal before.

it looks like you’re overcomplicating things - you just need to animate the sword mesh in maya and import that - not bothering with all these controllers and groups etc.

For rigid skinned objects - ie ones that dont deform - you just need to animate the mesh. If you want to add a socket for the sword tip or anything you can do that in unreal afterwards.
