Hello, i'm beginner and i need help

Hello there, my name is Andrija (Ygrene) and i need help. I just joined your community and i’m really interested in making VFX and learning about them. I downloaded unreal engine 4 and i’m ready to start. I have a two questions that i’d like to ask you guys.

1. Which program do i use for making 2D effects and which program for 3D?
2. Is there anyone who can help me with unreal engine and where to start?

Just looking for a little direction

As someone that is brand new to the VFX world, what software should I be using/learning with a view to one day seeking work in games design? I’ve installed both Unity and Unreal engine as well as Houdini. More than anything I’m a little lost as what the different software is used for, a little guidance on this as well as what I should be focusing on at this very early stage would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Daniel

I don’t do much with 2d but I think adobe animate is one of the more popular programs.
