Second Post here, i have since then been struggling with unreal 5 niagara, i am currently using kisong lee’s coloso course, i am really confused there are a lot of concepts that i don’t even understand, my laptop has a gtx 1060 6gb, worried if it would run unreal 5 properly, smoke sims slow it down a lot, generally just really confused on how to start and where to go, need advice, stick with unreal or go back to unity, i believe that learning unreal makes me more employable. am i wrong?. thanks a lot everyone!
i believe that learning unreal makes me more employable.
While this is true, the main thing that’ll make you employable is the ability to apply VFX concepts in any engine. So I wouldn’t worry too much about which one you’re using.
gtx 1060 6gb,
Should be fine as long as you use it for normal vfx stuff. Smoke sims and the like are naturally a lot more expensive so you might struggle to run those in anything resembling real time.

I’m not familiar with the course you’re following, but it might either be too advanced, or the intention is for you to go off on your own and try and learn the concepts being introduced?
Regarding Kisong Lee’s course, it’s overall really solid, but it might be a bit too advanced for beginners. He creates some pretty complex shaders, which could feel overwhelming for some. It might be a good idea to check out a few tutorials on YouTube first, then come back to the course once you’ve got a better grasp on the basics.
