On the topic of suffixes - one fringe case is that it’s very hard to tell the difference between some assets by thumbnail/colour alone - most obvious case being an MI and M. Prefixes are obv immediately visible when reading.

(However, the editor seems to favour an auto suffix of _inst (which is normally truncated in view))

I’m not evangelical about any of this - tbh I agree with a lot of what you wrote, but the Style guide I linked to has basically pushed all this to the back of my mind. It’s very useful and does really help.
