Been meaning to do some tests with mesh fires and thought this would be a good time to try it - didnt even use the circle texture, so maybe not quite in the spirit of the sketch 
It’s just 50 meshes baked together and flipbooked in the material - holds up ok from mid distance but too blocky up close. Also 300,000 verts so probably not the most optimal of effects
