Hello. Here is my entry.
What I want to do here is a short story, made inside UE4
I’ve started with an opening sequence, so I could test wide shots and closeups. That is quite new to me, but hoping for a good result
In the beginning I use a lot of embergen smokes, in the climax there will be a falling bomb
I was in a rush when I started to make the scene, so missed showing some of the progress. Before posting new updates I think it makes sence to fill these gaps
The scene is assembled in UE4. The main elements:
Shelter, power lines (modeled in 3ds max + textured in quixel mixer)
The master material was applied to all iron elements
The terrain generated in Houdini
Trees - speedtree
The explosion mushroom - embergen
it is 6x6 sprite with motion vector
And all together in UE
nuke fx
smoke particles - for the atmosphere (dust also generated in embergen)
Used mostly the source files from the existing scenes
I only added a bit of a bend (simple bones animation) to the trees located close to the explosion
Trees scattered in houdini and exported to unreal. I was not able to find a way to scatter them with the radial orientation in Unreal (I think there is a way but I am not smart anough for that )
Wave is a distortion + scaled up decal + embergen smoke
