Ciao fooltheroof,
the effect is interesting, but in my opinion, the snake animation is reversed.
I would suggest flipping it: this way, the snake would loads the shot (1) and then release it with a whip-like motion (2,3).
What do you think?

My intention was to lead the viewer’s eye with the ground destruction. But I will definitely try to see how flipping it will change the flow of the effect.
