I’m glad to participate to my first challenge here. I want to take this opportunity to improve my skills and practice creating wind effects.
I started by gathering references to have an idea of what I want to create. After that, I make concept of the main parts in order to breakdown the effect and better understand how to create it.
The 1st step of my VFX was to find animations for the “player” and set the environment. I looked for them at the same time as creating the concept art for main parts. I used mixamo site for all the animations. The dummy comes from vfx asset of Rub Luna de San Macario !
After that, I worked on the blockout stage. I tried to use elements from my old vfx as much as possible but I had to create the majority of meshes. During this step, I also worked on the timing and a little bit on the value and colors.
For this update, I worked more on textures, flipbooks and shaders! There are still details to refine but I hope to have a result that satisfies me before the end of the month!
After having some feedbacks with my previous version, I decided to change all the animations of the “avatar” to have something punchier and with a better timing. I had to adapt my vfx with the new movements but I think it’s better now. I also added animations for the dummy and made small changes for different parts.
This is my last update!
I would have liked to work a little more on this effect but unfortunately I won’t be able to work this last week-end, so this result will be my participation for this challenge! It was very fun to create a new wind effect. Thank you for hosting this challenge!
