Hi! I’m Ricky, i’m new to Unreal VFX or Realtime FX especially for games cause my work before are VFX for Film and it’s really different than i thought!
This is my first time post here, i’m still learning and decide to create FX after watching a bunch of tutorial. So i’m watching this anime series called Wistoria: Wand and Sword. This series grab my attention cause the Directing and Storytelling is i would say great. [Wistoria: Wand and Sword]
I want to recreate the magic used in this series, maybe start with fire.
I’m still at the magic circles, maybe i’m going to make the fire later on. Magic Circles
Texture for Magic Circles with RGB Channel Pack for individual animation on Niagara.
So, you can begin with the magic circle, which would be the 1rst part of your whole project:
For the magic circle, since you packed the different elements it means you can have individual control. What I would suggest with it is having them spawn with a very short delay. You would have the Red channel spawning first, then the Green and last the Blue. like 0.05 to 0.1 delay for example.
Or you could Spawn those in other orders like BGR, GRB or whatever is the coolest. Personally, I would go with the RGB flow since it would be a nice build up towards the conjured flame at the center of the circle.
I would also add some small particulates spawning in a sphere or circle location and then use the Point Attractor module so the particles flows towards the center, which would be your magic circle. Then toggle the Kill Radius option in it so the particles gets killed at a specific area around the center.
Then some random lifetime & scale, probably also make the particle orientation to be velocity aligned (Sprite Renderer module) and make then stretch as they flow inwards.
Also add some UV Distortion on the circle may be, but not too much. Also some distortion particles to show that it’s hot.
I would also recommend adding like a flare spawning in the middle of your circle as your small particulates I just talked about, give the visual feedback that something is building up.
And if you want to accelerate your workflow and gain some valuable skills, you should start learning IlluGen. You would be able to create assets like Textures, flipbooks, meshes, VATs & more, very fast. All in 1 software.
Made a tutorial about it if you are interested. Would highly recommend it:
Hi! Thanks for the feedback!
So yeah i have the individual control with the circle to animate them, but using delay spawn is not on my plan so that’s new approach for me, really huge help!
And maybe later on i’m gonna trying to add some small particles like you said, also actually i’ve added some distort, it looks like i’ve done it too much distort and making it more like not naturally hot or kinda weird, i try to tone it down the distort.
Already read the tutorial about Illugen that you sent and it grab my attention, thanks again for stopping by my post and the feedbacks, really appreciate it!
