Vil55: Sketch #66

Final piece:

Greetings!

While I did try working on some sketches here before, I never really posted them as they never seemed worthy of outsiders’ eyes. This time, though a bit delayed, I am joining in, as it is a good chance to practice wind elemental vfx.

I decided to do a traversal effect for a character/object, or, in non-made-up terms - a woosh that appears when something or someone enters the scene. (Yes I am terrible at hand drawing…)

In the upcoming days I will be updating this several times before submitting the finished version.

Greetings!

Never need to be worried of posting for the sketches, even if quality is not there yet. People here know that it’s a hard thing to keep with your time schedules and be able to work somehting out, or simply theme might just not align with you in many cases

Happy to see you participate this time tho! And beautiful sketch indeed! Looking forward to that woosh!

I started out with technical part, forgoing the textures for now, blocking out main movement of the wind body.

P.S. I cannot figure out how to make the video link into playable window… Any help?

Seems the link is private, so probably that’s the issue.
If you set it so that it can be opened then it should show up on the site when you put a link

Continued with timing and then materials. I am spending waaaay too much time finetuning things, and I still can’t get what’s missing… Other than that this is a blast!

That’s a huuuuge improvement!
Maybe adding some sort of flash to the ‘impact’ would make it more cohesive in the moment of transformation. But overall it’s a great effect already!

Aannd I feel like I am done. Added some flair, more colors and coverups for the transition (Thanks Manus, great advice). Implementing the ground crack via displaced meshes was quite a pain, but i am still doubtful if i chose the correct method for that. Anyways, this whole sketch was good opportunity to try out something new, so thanks for having me, and see You in the next one!

P.S. I will be updating my entry comment too so it is easier to find.
