Stylized Fire

Thought I’d share something I have been working on. On the side. This was recording in UE4 in engine.


This 2D Style Fire effect was created using a flipbook sheet.

The fire never feels like it moves up. To my eye it’s always at the same height, and the elements are just moving side to side. The embers at the very top feel like the have some vertical velocity, but the body of the fire doesn’t. Is you flipbook just random hand drawn fire sprites that randomly spawn, or were these meant to be sequential?

All sequential and also meant to move side to side, but thanks for the feedback. I am fairly new to stylized flipbooks.
