Hi everyone! After almost 3 years of making stylized VFX, I think it’s a good time to start studying semi-realistic and realistic effects. I recently started freelancing and I need to expand my skillset, and where better to track my progress than here?
To make these effects I mainly use the JangaFX suite, Substance Designer, and Blender. For now I prefer not to use Houdini, but I might integrate it in the future if needed.
At this point I want to produce a lot of VFX without polishing too much, testing different approaches and elements.
Any feedback and advice are welcome

Here are my first two studies.

Hi, after watching the amazing Beyond FX spotlight by Nick McElmury on smoke techniques, I decided to recreate the shader and test the workflow on my own smoke and explosion assets.
I managed to achieve what’s probably my best volumetric-looking smoke so far.
Huge thanks to Nick and the Beyond FX team for sharing such high-quality resources with the community!
What do you think of the final look?
