For this challenge I am planning to use a cube and energy explosion FX. These are some of the first pass I am trying out in Houdini and unity.
This is a experiment I was trying to make a combination of a 2D and a 3D FX just to get a gist of how the FX might look…
I still have to work more on the red connecting meshes that are between the cube pieces…
Planning on combing these visuals in future…
The plan is to make the following -
- center charge FX
- a bit of toon smoke and small debris
- polish the wind arc FX
- The end energy explosion is still TBD

so tried some stuff and was not happy with how things looked. So instead of making those red threads coming from the cube, I decided to explode the cube and then morph that pieces into a book (grimoire?)
And making a sword coming out from it - reference from anime- black clover.
Then making some black-red aura coming from the sword and the book.
I plan on doing this FX in unreal. So i got some basic things ready - red aura, black distort aura, cube explosion, book model (link - Book Open - Download Free 3D model by FlukierJupiter [bcc69da] - Sketchfab) and sword model (made in maya)
and here is the destruction in houdini, its still in progress, but i got some shapes finalised.
