Welp, at least you have a job, it’s not that bad. But if i might say anything, just do what you think could be better for your to feel confortable and with your mind at ease. I always followed that advice and never regretted it once, even though it could cost me some opportunities.
So long as you give proper time notice when you tender your resignation, and don’t go out by throwing your monitor on the ground in a re-enactment of a lonely island video… You are not gonna blacklist yourself out. Game industry is very per project based and people change studios all the time. They go… then come back a few years later… then go again. The only time I ever saw someone blacklisted was because they physically assaulted a colleague throwing a PC at them… So don’t worry, if you wanna change work, do so, look for another job, give proper notice when you tender in you resignation and keep it professional. Keep your chin up, and your conscience clear, the rest will follow.
I do have a job, but it’s not like anyone handed it to me, it took years of bashing my head against a wall, frustration, anger, hard work, uncertainty and feeling like my life was a total mess.
I guess what I’m trying to say with that is, I worked really hard just to get to where I am, so although I am thankful for this job, I’m not about to go head over heels for my current employer, even if they’re AAA- there’s more to life than that (imo).
haha, naw. would never even dream of it lol. Yeah you make a good point! In my time there plenty people have left and some have even come back from when they worked on previous titles at the studio so totally true!
Things have gotten better but I think tbh, I don’t see a future at this company. They seem to just keep a few senior people, hire contractors and let them go after the project is over- definitely will start looking for new places come next year
honestly not even bummed about it, kind of liberating and looking forward to what’s next!
I can relate to that, trust me. I’m currently in the process of finding a job. On top of that i’m not from North America or any country blessed where opportunities like working in the gaming industry are at least available. I have to face immigration, debt, disappintment, the struggle to find a job, working non-stop to prove what i can do via the portefolio. And yes, i also think there is more to it just like you sad. I was just throwing my 2 cents about how you might want to deal with your problem.
