Portfolio Showcase - Looking for Feedback

Hi everyone! I’m Aron and I just graduated with a Master’s in Games Development. I come from a programming background but my true passion is VFX and art. So I have been using my spare time amidst the demanding coursework over the past year to learn game VFX skills. Now I’m actively developing as a VFX Technical Artist, aiming to combine my solid programming foundation with artistic visuals to create emotionally immersive moments for players.

I’d like to share my work, which includes some personal practice and part of projects during my master’s, to get some feedbacks to help myself find my first job as VFX TA in game industry.

Thank you in advance!

Nice explosion!

The destruction looks good and I really like the smoke ring puff on the floor around the debris combined with the floor scorch. Constructively I think the embers falling looks pretty unrealistic, embers are so light- they would have some movement from the wind so I think some drag / aerodynamic drag here as they fall would make them feel really nice. I also felt like the explosion puff faded pretty quick, this is a personal preference and could depend on the needs of the game but personally I would have taken longer to fade the smoke out. Nice work though!

Thank you so much Cass! Glad you like it! This is my first time to make this type of explosion by creating flipbook. I’ve attempted to adjust the various time parameters and forces parameters numerous times. I agree with your points about more adjustments for the drag and timeline.
