Milk: Sketch #67

SnowAttackV02_WSound2-ezgif.com-optimize

Here is my final submission!

This was a pretty fun sketch to participate in. I went for a 2 stage attack, that consists of a long range freeze and a dash attack. Went for a clumpy snow look on everything.

I used houdini to build all the snow assets. Tried my hand at some more advance materials in unreal. Used the free paragon characters and animation, but learned more about the animation sequencer to build my own sequence.

Yo! This is my first time participating in a sketch event.

I got some inspiration from some others peoples snow fx (like this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbDB-IFwQ1Q) and just general google searching. I’m gonna develop a 2 stage magic attack. The first stage being a more clumpy big snowflake and the second part being a trail of snow destruction.

This is where my snowflake thing is currently at. Tired messing with a bit of fractal stuff and some noise patterns. I think I like the shape. Gonna move onto developing some other elements I need.

I hope you will have a lot of fun!!!
Oh how did you make that?!

Using houdini for this. Theres a fractal called the koch snowflake, was messing around trying to recreate it and then did some noise and volume stuff.

Heres a update of where I’m at. I like how the textures came out, but I am still trying to make a impact flash for the spawn (something really bright). Gonna go ahead and start working on the second attack phase, and probably come back to this one.

Another update. Kinda got all the elements here now, and happy with how it’s lookin. Gonna try to tweak maybe a few more things maybe not, depends on how much time I have.

If anyone has any tips or comments, I would greatly appreciate it!
