Hi! So my name is Tobias and I recently graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Game Development. Specializing in VFX and Tech art.
I have lost count on how many jobs I’ve applied for (probably + 100 jobs) and since the gaming industry is looking the way it is right now, it pretty much seems impossible to get a job. Most of the companies are looking for seniors and the ones that are junior roles (which is not a lot, to say the least) have people appyling with 5 + years. That makes it pretty much impossible for a guy like me who has zero gaming industry experience to compete with.
So does anybody have any tips or advice on how to land a first job? Anything is helpful.
Thank you in advance!

At the moment the industry is quite a bad spot which makes things extra hard. What helped me land my first real job was working on a collaboration in a free proyect with other people creating a small game, as companies value that you have some experience working on an actual proyect and you can work with people as a part of a team.
Best of luck.

Thank you for the tips, really appreciate it!
I would say tailor your portfolio to what companies are looking for is the best thing you can do.
Showing an employer that if they hire you you can already do what they need you to do without having to train in the basics will put you far ahead of the rest of the field, an example is Sirhaian who did a lot of League of Legends fan art and is now a senior artist at Riot. I’d recommend looking at the work of kinds of companies you’d like to work at do and make something similar.
