[Full-Time] Look Dev Tech Artist - Unreal 5 (Shading and Lighting) at ZA/UM Studio

ZA/UM Studio, the makers of Disco Elysium - The Final Cut are hiring for a full-time Look Dev Tech Artist for Unreal 5 (Shading and Lighting).

Guide us into a new graphical realm of possibilities. Your goal is to bring into existence a unique visual style that elegantly combines stylized rendering with modern PBR techniques. You’ll support a team of talented artists and programmers in defining next-gen lighting and shading conventions for environments and characters.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the art team in defining a unique art style.
  • Write shaders, create materials and post-processing FX.
  • Implement an efficient pipeline for asset production, materials, shaders and lighting.
  • Assist the team in the development of tools.

Skills

  • Unreal Engine shader programming and material creation experience.
  • Previous experience in creating stylized shaders for Cell Shading.
  • A good grasp of PBR principles and modern rendering techniques.
  • Comfortable using and adapting stock assets for R&D. (Unreal Marketplace, etc)
  • Team player, willing to teach and learn.

Experience

  • 2+ years as a technical artist or equivalent.
  • Game development experience with at least 1 shipped game.

Desirable Skills

  • Experimental rendering experience.
  • Houdini Engine experience.
  • Automation and Tool development experience.
