Hi everyone! This is my second Real-Time VFX piece, designed as a loot drop for a legendary weapon. I aimed for a more stylized effect this time. I’m not entirely happy with how the ribbon trails on the spinning stars fade out—if anyone has suggestions on how to improve them, I’d really appreciate it!
I also posted my first VFX here a few days ago (still need to tweak that one), but I’m wondering—should I post each new piece as a separate thread, or compile them into one ongoing post?
Some small tips to get you moving forward, more dynamic easing in the bounce and expansion would make it feel even more satisfying. It might be nice to bring in some of those hues into the clouds so they’re not so grey, as well as thinking about helping colors fit together better by shifting hues around during the duration. Starting out as the same yellow and purple they end with makes it feel static. Also look into various dissolving techniques rather than opacity fading everything, it’ll add variety to the elements and look nicer. All those points also apply to the trails and stars, focusing on color more not just per element, but over time will do a lot for you !
I’m pretty sure many people here make a thread called a “Sketchbook” and post all their stuff in that, it makes it easier to follow your progress and provide feedback and see growth. But I don’t think there’s a hard rule, it’s your choice how you want to present your work
Thanks for the feedback again! You’ve helped me out twice now and it’s been super helpful. I’ll play around with the colors and explore some new dissolving techniques as well. Really appreciate your comments!
