Finally got started on my tornado today. The tornado that I have in mind is a magical, stylized one that transports people into other universes. Kind of like this effect from Nuclear Throne, but in tornado form. I’ve always loved that effect and actually recreated as a fragment shader on shadertoy a while ago.
Anyway, here’s what I’ve got so far for the tornado. Next steps are to make a better texture, animate the vertex displacement noise (right now it’s part of the model), add impacts, add swirling debris/smoke/lightning, etc. In other words, there’s quite a bit of work left to do.
